Bulimia and anorexia are two important subjects these days. That’s because today’s media projects a standard of beauty that often times requires a lot from a person. A study by the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders reported that 5 – 10% of anorexics and bulimics die within 10 years after contracting the disease. Although it is a very popular subject, a lot of people don’t know the differences between those two issues.
When we compare these two disease we can notice that they are very similar. Not only anorexia, but also bulimia messes with the brain. Both bulimia and anorexia happens because people want to lose weight. Usually people that have this disease try to keep it in secret, because they feel like this issue is making them to be better.
However we need to keep it in mind that these two are very different, too. While anorexia makes people stop eating, bulimia makes the person eat a lot. But bulimia, unlike anorexia,
makes people throw up constantly. On one hand, anorexia can be treated with medicines, on
the other hand bulimia is harder to treat, because it vicious your body, so the treatment is
based on self-control.
In conclusion, both of these diseases are hard to face. It's complicated to overcome these two diseases. Parents and relatives need to be actively trying to help the person with these issues. After all, we need to keep in mind that anybody can have this disease so we need to pay attention, because if we notice the problem early on, it's easier to fix.
